It keeps us so organized that we can usually keep our clothes in our carry-on while staying in hotels. We pack our tops in one cube, and have another cube for most of our bottoms, with socks and underwear.
You could also use the packing in sets method where you pack your clothes in sets of 2 or 3 outfits, and then pack your underwear and socks in a separate packing cube. This way, you can pack less and still have enough clothes for your trip.
